Ultimate Blog Hop!

Hello one and all! If this is your first time visiting the ole' Jonesie then please let me explain a little. I write on a variety of topics. (basically whatever may pop into my head or even whatever rant I have for the day.) Some things are a little out there, I admit. But honestly, I have spent so much of my life worrying about what others think that when I finally released myself from the "rules and roles of society" I really began to find myself. So, my request is that you read more than just one post before you decide. I promise somewhere along the way I am sure you will say what so many others have said at one time or another: Jonesie, you simply say what others only think in their heads!

I'm a Slave to the Farm... Part TWO!

Well, in case you are new to my blog or just somehow missed it I have talked about this subject previously

I decided today that it is very well worth revisiting though.  Especially since a large portion of the hubbs paycheck just went to help sustain this mini farm we have.  For the last three days the guinea pigs have been surviving on mere carrots, radishes, and hay.  One may ask what else does a guinea pig need?  Well, let me tell you.  According to my spoiled ass pigs they need not only carrots, radishes and hay but they also need regular guinea pig food (whatever that really is!  It's just looks like little pellets of stuff to me.), extra little treats, honey sticks and sheesh whatever the hell else you can think of and then some!

So, off to the pet store we went. While I was there I figured I might as well stock up on the other farm animals pets' supplies.  Now, picture this:  I shop at a small family type pet store (I can't stand the commercial chain ones!) that is in a word quaint.  I like the home town feel of it and being a country girl at heart it gives me a type of feeling as if they really know me.  So, down the doggie aisle I go.  I load up the bag of horse doggie food for moon dog who is the stray who adopted us about 9 months ago.  That's a 45 lb bag of food.  Then comes the yorkie food.  She of course gets the "natural" food.  For some reason I feel better about giving her the bag of food that has pictures of grassy fields and a great big steak on the front.  Then the cat food.  This is a cat that adopted us about 3 years ago.  Persnickety thing he is as he only likes fish flavored cat food.

I won't go into great detail about the special treats we bought for them all except to say that they actually sell dried bananas packaged up for guinea pigs!  At a pretty price I might add.

Anyways, to sum this up almost $200 bucks later I get home to have not one, not two but EVERY single one of these farm animals pets start screaming at me as I walk in the door.  Do they love me for me or for the loads of spoiledness that gets lavished on them day after day?

What about you?  Tell me I'm not the only one that is a slave to a fur child!

  1. Ha! I can't relate. We don't have the space therefore we don't have the pets. Hope they, at the very least give you tons of love.

  2. We are converging on becoming crazy animal people:
    1 Corgi
    1 Chihuahua
    1 Old cat
    1 Young cat
    1 Aquatic frog

All of these critters (except the frog) sleep on my bed at different intervals of the day and night, and when i am in the bed, on me. On my head. When I get up, they lay their fur bodies on my pillow. And lick themselves. It's very rude.

A guinea pig might send me over the edge..

  3. Just a dog and a cockatiel. But that's enough for me. I only have so much love to give. : ) I can relate though to wanting to spoil them. I do that on a regular basis. Aiden doesn't share my sentiment but he doesn't complain about it either so we're good. Today is on the road all day to Archery Tournament. Hope you have a good one!

2 Chihuahuas and a German pointer mix; their rear ends don't touch the floor without hitting a bed. My Chi, Napoleon, thinks he has a city home and a summer cottage he retires to. Let me not get started on the fact that when I sit his majesty comes to get brushed. The other two dogs have a bit more consideration and leave mommy alone for at least one tv show before demanding to be brushed, fresh water, treats, they have to go potty, who's cold/hot, etc. I don't know how you do it with kids and pets, you're my hero.

  5. WOW! I'm so relieved to hear that I am not the only fur baby lover! You guys sound so much like me!

I have to admit that at times I love my fur children more than my own family!

@Doreen: I can do it because I have children that somehow somewhere throughout the week do something warranting punishment and therefore that equals into cage cleaning for the piggies and other duties. The cat well, as much as none of us like it he forces us into feeding him just to get him to leave us alone. And the big dog, well he is my son's so he HAS to take care of her. LOL

    Do you have a blog?

I used to have one on blogspot but they made it impossible when I deleted my gmail account. I was trying to get rid of all the extra email accounts I acquired over the years. I was really disappointed I had to get rid of the blog b/c I had stuff up there since high school!
